Artist Statement: I believe that art is a means to truly
understand life and reality. There has
always been time and space, energy and matter, but not math and science, they
did not exist nor did they need to until humans created them as a means of
understanding and communicating those things that already existed. I believe art is very similar to math and
science in the sense that we developed artistic thought to help understand
life and the things around us, and that we do art to explain them to
ourselves and others. I use art to
understand and explain what I am, what I think, and what I feel. As well as things I see, hear, smell, and
taste. A scientist might tell you what
it is, and how it is. A mathematician
might tell you how much there is, and how far it is. But only an artist can show you how
beautiful it is or how sad it is. In the end I am an artist because those are
the answers I care about, the ones that matter. |
